Cornelius Häußermann (* 1959) is a German church musician . He is cantor and organist of the Paulus Congregation Berlin-Zehlendorf , director of the Berlin Bach Society and director of the Zehlendorfer Pauluskantorei at the Paulus Church .

Life

Cornelius Häußermann grew up in Herrenberg and initially studied musicology and art history, then church music in Berlin, with Martin Behrmann and Karl Hochreither , among others . From 1988 to 1989 he was a member of the Neukölln Opera , then a church musician in Berlin-Nikolassee . Until 2016 he was the district cantor of the Teltow-Zehlendorf church district.

He has given numerous concerts with the Zehlendorfer Pauluskantorei and the Berliner Cappella Chamber Orchestra. Concert tours to Italy, France and Poland took place under his direction. The focus is on the performances of the oratorios and cantatas by Johann Sebastian Bach and the preoccupation with new music.

An organ building project was developed with the organ building association Pauluskirche Zehlendorf , in which from 2011 to 2013 two organs with different sound profiles were installed in the Pauluskirche. The Karl Schuke Berlin organ building workshop created a new organ on the south pore in the French-symphonic tradition with 44 stops on three manuals and pedal. As a supplement, a new building in the Central German Baroque style was built by Gottfried Silbermann and Tobias Heinrich Gottfried Trost on the east side gallery , without copying a specific instrument. Rowan West's instrument has 25 registers on two manuals and a pedal.

Awards

  • In 2016, Cornelius Häußermann received the Federal Cross of Merit on ribbon for his services as a church musician, who built a rich concert life, designed the organ building project and contributed to German-Polish understanding.
