Cornelius Trantow (* 1965 ) is a German choir director and music teacher .

Trantow first studied physics in Bielefeld and Oldenburg. In 1992 he began studying church music at the Hamburg University of Music and Theater . In 1996 he passed the B exam . He completed postgraduate studies in choral conducting with a diploma in 1999. Master classes with Eric Ericson , Frieder Bernius and Carl Høgset followed . Since 1999 he has been teaching as a professor of choral conducting at the Hamburg University of Music and Theater. In 1994 he founded the choir Ensemble vocal , which he still directs today (as of 2018). Since the 2013/14 winter semester he has also directed the chamber choir of the Hamburg University of Music and Theater. In 2017 he took part with this in the state choir competition "Choralle" in Hamburg with outstanding success and was forwarded to the German choir competition 2018 in Freiburg, in which the choir in the category A2 - large mixed choirs - participated with outstanding success and also won it.


Cornelius Trantow is the nephew of the actress and director Cordula Trantow and the grandson of the composer Herbert Trantow .
