from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Corpus Inscriptionum et Monumentorum Religionis Mithriacae (CIMRM) is a directory of all epigraphic and archaeological evidence of the ancient Mithras cult , which was compiled by Maarten Jozef Vermaseren . It was published in two volumes between 1956 and 1960.

The project was financed by the Koninklijke Academie voor Wetenschappen, Letteren en Schone Kunsten van België and the Nederlandse Organization voor Wetenschappelijk Onderzoek .

The CIMRN represents the basis of Mithras research to this day . Based on his work on the Corpus, Vermaseren wrote a generally readable overview that was first published in Dutch in 1959, followed by a German translation in 1965. Translations have also appeared in English and French.
