Corryocactus pulquinensis is a species of plant in the genus Corryocactus from the cactus family(Cactaceae). The specific epithet pulquiensis refers to the occurrence of the species near the Bolivian town of Pulquina .

description

Corryocactus pulquinensis grows climbing or creeping with a few shoots . The bright green shoots are 3 to 4 meters long and 3 to 4 centimeters in diameter. There are four to five blunt, notched ribs . The three to seven needle-like to awl, white thorns have a darker tip, are somewhat pressed against the shoot and cannot be clearly differentiated into central and radial spines. They are 0.5 to 2 inches long. Three of them face downwards.

The broadly funnel-shaped to bell-shaped golden yellow to orange flowers appear in threes or fours near the shoot tips and are about 7 to 7.5 centimeters long.

Distribution, systematics and endangerment

Corryocactus pulquinensis is widespread in the Bolivian Department of Santa Cruz at depths of around 1500 meters.

The first description was in 1957 by Martín Cárdenas .

In the Red List of Threatened Species of IUCN is the species as " Endangered (EN) ," d. H. listed as endangered.
