Cortachy Castle is a crenellated mansion in Cortachy in the Scottish County of Angus , about four miles north of Kirriemuir . The current 15th century building was the result of an earlier structure owned by the Earls of Strathearn . The Ogilvy clan acquired it in 1473 and redesigned it significantly in the 17th and 19th centuries. In 1883 part of the building was destroyed by fire, but was extensively rebuilt in the following two years.
Cortachy Castle is a Category B structure .
It is said that the ghost of a drummer is at work in the castle.
