Countess Bathory is a song by the English band Venom . It was released on their second album Black Metal in 1982 .

Emergence

When Abaddon was late, Mantas and Cronos played some new riffs and started writing the lyrics for them. Ged Cook, one of Venom's roadies and her manager's brother, came into her practice room and took over the drums . With further experimentation, the song Countess Bathory came about . When Abaddon joined later, he tried to find a new drum track, but Cook's fit better, according to the band. Abaddon was furious about Cook's version being preferred and wanted to add his own contribution to the piece, but according to the Venom biography it didn't fit. Abaddon hated the song. Countess Bathory was recorded at Impulse Studios; it took the band three days to record the album, the time they were given by Neat Records . In addition to Keith Nichol, all members of the band were involved in the production.
