Crónica TV ( Spanish report TV ) is an Argentine news television station. It was founded in 1994 by the owner of the tabloid Crónica and was the first broadcaster in the country to broadcast 24-hour news. Today it was surpassed in popularity by the Clarín Group's competitor , Todo Noticias .

Crónica TV

Because of the thematic focus, it is usually assigned to the tabloid media . Live coverage of events such as criminal cases, family tragedies or accidents, combined with uncommented headlines, dominates.

features

The station is characterized by a very simple but unconventional corporate design that shows clear elements of the retro aesthetic. The most important headlines appear full-page in old-fashioned capital letters on a red background. At the same time, the background music is an old-fashioned recognition melody, an excerpt from the military march The Stars and Stripes Forever by John Philip Sousa .

The headlines are often written in colloquial to vulgar language. Furthermore, Crónica TV very often uses elements of humor and irony . For example, completely unimportant "news" are presented as headlines such as There are 364 days missing until the next beginning of spring (a kind of running gag that is often repeated with any time of the year depending on the date) or a message is created by twisting the facts in the comment line led into the absurd. One case in particular became known in which the headline Drunken Motorist in a car accident almost causes tragedy. Batman only witness. was shown because a man dressed as Batman was in the area when the journalists arrived .
