Crafting

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Crafting is the collective term for producing or manufacturing , which comes from English . In addition, this can also describe the craft . However, due to its use in some video games as well as in the craft and construction sector in the German language, this was used more and more often and is therefore more widely used (e.g. for contour crafting, crafting something or job crafting ). As Digital Crafting (digital crafts) is also the use of modern production techniques such as CAD and CNC referred for the production of building materials, machine parts and tools. Most of the time, this term and the term dungeon are only used in computer games . The term was first used in the game World of Warcraft , where it was used for the “crafting system”.

Theorycrafting (in German as much as theoretical craft) describes the theoretical examination of game mechanics in order to improve playing skills, success and knowledge of the game.

Crafting system

The user interface used in computer games that allows the player to manufacture objects is called a crafting system . This type of interface is often used in sandbox games , survival games, and role -playing games . There, objects can be combined with each other either manually using drag and drop (e.g. Minecraft ) or automatically (e.g. H1Z1 ) to get another item (also called an item ) in the game, which is usually saved in the inventory . The number, exchange and sorting of the same items is often implemented using a stack , which is why collections of the same items are also referred to as stacks. The players can either use the won items for their own use or trade or sell them.

The required materials and manufacturing procedures are usually presented in the form of appropriate recipes. Sometimes special machines and tools have to be manufactured for crafting. In this way, longer production chains can sometimes arise.
