As in the previous year, the men's trophy was won by the first team of the GDR with Thomas Emmrich and Andreas John . Emmrich then also won the men's singles as defending champion and the two of them also won the men's doubles together. In the women's category , the first representative of the Soviet Union won the Nations Cup through Yevgenia Biryukova and Jelana Granaturova . Birjukowa also won the women's singles. The women's doubles went to the two Soviet players Lyudmila Makarowa and Irina Ševčenko .
