The 29th international tennis tournament in Zinnowitz took place from June 27th to July 3rd 1983 in the Baltic resort of Zinnowitz . The tournament started again on a Monday. Due to heavy rains, some games were also played in Ahlbeck .

As in 1981, the GDR with Thomas Emmrich and Steffen John won the men's cup of nations . Emmrich then also won the men's singles and the men's doubles alongside the Polish Henryk Drzymalski . Hungary won the Women's Nations Cup with Anna Németh and Éva Rózsavölgyi , who also won the singles through Rózsavölgyi in the final against Nemeth and together in the women's doubles in the final against Grit Schneider and Christine Schulz . Schulz also reached the semi-finals in the individual.
