The 5th international tennis tournament in Zinnowitz took place from June 28th to July 5th, 1959 in the Baltic Sea resort of Zinnowitz .

In addition to the young top players from the GDR, players from West Germany, Bulgaria, Finland, Poland, Hungary, Czechoslovakia and members of the French workers' sports federation Fédération Sportive et Gymnique du Travail took part.

In the men's category, Czechoslovak Pavel Korda was successful after defending champion András Szikszay was eliminated in the semi-finals. The semi-finals also reached Horst Stahlberg . The defending champion Klára Bardóczy was able to win again in the women's category. Here Eva Johannes reached the semi-finals.

In the men's doubles, the West Germans Gottfried Dallwitz and Arthur Schröder won the final against Horst Stahlberg and Konrad Zanger , while in the women's doubles Eva Johannes and Inge Schulz were able to repeat their success from two years ago. In mixed doubles, the Bulgarian duo Maria Tschakarowa and Nikolai Tschuparow won .
