The 26th international tennis tournament in Zinnowitz took place from June 30th to July 6th, 1980 in the Baltic Sea resort of Zinnowitz . The tournament only started on Monday for the first time. Some games were also played in Ahlbeck .

The GDR defended the Nations Cup with Thomas Arnold and Thomas Emmrich , who also won the men's singles. Both together also won the men's doubles title. The women’s Cup of Nations was won by Hungary in the line-up of Katalin Fagyas and Éva Rózsavölgyi , who also won the women’s singles in the final against Fagyas. Both together also won the women's doubles title. Christine Schulz and 13-year-old Bulgarian Manuela Maleewa reached the semi-finals in the women's singles .
