Crag Cave ( Irish Pluais na Craige ) is a cave in the immediate vicinity of the town of Castleisland in County Kerry , Ireland . With a length of exactly 3.81 km, it is one of the largest stalactite caves on the island.

When the city's drinking water became increasingly polluted in 1981 , one had to follow the various rivers and streams and came across this cave system . After extensive research , the cave was opened to the public in 1989 over a length of about 350 m . The limestone was washed out by subterranean rivers and represents a labyrinth of winding passages, chambers and tunnels. Dripstones of various sizes grow from the ceilings. The most beautiful are illuminated with headlights .
