Craig Cannonier

Craig Cannonier (* 1963 in Saint David's , Saint George's Parish ) is a Bermudian politician, member of the House of Assembly there , “ Justice of the Peace ”, and former Prime Minister of the British overseas territory of Bermuda. He is also chairman of the One Bermuda Alliance (OBA).

Life

Cannonier was born and raised on Saint David's Island in Saint George's Parish in Bermuda. He attended St Georges Preparatory school and later the Bermuda Institute. He graduated in 1986 with a Bachelor of Science degree in industrial psychology from the US Towson State University . After graduating, he worked in various areas of retail management. He worked for the MarketPlace Group, where he took on tasks in human resources, training and purchasing. He later worked for People's Pharmacy as General Manager. He was also employed by Cable & Wireless as a relation manager. On December 18, 2012, Cannonier was sworn in to succeed Paula Cox as Prime Minister of Bermuda after the One Bermuda Alliance, of which he has been chairman since September 10, 2011, won the previous elections. He resigned on May 19, 2014. Today, in addition to his political activities, Cannonier also operates several Esso stores.

Private

Craig Cannonier is married to Antoinette Cannonier and has five children with her. Both are members of the Marsden First United Methodist Church .
