Craig David Thomas is an American television writer who, with his writing partner Carter Bays, wrote episodes of American Dad , Oliver Beene , Quintuplets and the successful CBS sitcom How I Met Your Mother , which they created in 2005. In 2012, How I Met Your Mother was named Best Comedy at the People's Choice Awards .

Together with Carter Bays he is a member of The Solids , who sing the theme song to How I Met Your Mother . It has been nominated for seven prime time Emmy Awards , including Best Original Song for Nothing Suits Me Like a Suit . Thomas graduated from Wesleyan University in 1997 .

Thomas has written 66 episodes for How I met your mother , 5 episodes for Oliver Beene , two episodes for The Goodwin Games and one episode for American Dad .

In 2014, he made a pilot for How I Met Your Dad with partner Carter Bays , Emily Spivey, and Greta Gerwig , but CBS asked them to make a second pilot, which they refused.

On April 15, 2019, Thomas, along with a number of other writers, fired their agents as part of the Writers Guild of America's opposition to the Association of Talent Agents and the unfair bundle offers of films and series.
