Crane Neck is a cape on the north Long Island coast that forms the eastern edge of Smithtown Bay . It is in the area of ​​the village of Old Field .

Behind the Cape's coastline lies the Flax Pond floodplain . The beach is covered with gravel and is only accessible to residents of the adjacent residential area, also known as the Crane Neck. Crane Neck is an important breeding ground for horseshoe crabs .
