Cregganbaun ( Irish : An Creagán Bán ) is a place in the southwest of County Mayo in the province of Connacht .

geology

In the 1980s there was controversy over possible gold mining in the Croagh Patrick , Cregganbaun and Doo Lough region. This gold mining should be operated more as a tourist attraction than in an economic context.

education

The "Cregganbaun National School" is no longer used today. Instead, students go to Killeen or Louisburgh .

traffic

From Cregganbaun the R335 runs north towards Louisburgh and south along Doo Lough over the Doo Lough Pass towards Delphi (Galway).
