Creo Elements / Direct Modeling is a professional 3D CAD tool from Parametric Technology Corporation .
The development of modeling started in the early 1990s under the name Soliddesigner . At that time, the development of this software was initiated under Hewlett-Packard in a division of the parent company. Until November 2008 the product was called OneSpace Modeling , after the complete integration of CoCreate Software GmbH the name was changed to CoCreate Modeling . At the end of October 2010 the new Creo product range was presented and at the same time the software was renamed Creo Elements / Direct Modeling .
The application area of the Creo Elements / Direct Modeling software is in high-tech mechanical engineering and in the electrical industry . The software follows an approach of dynamic modeling ( Dynamic Modeling ).
In 3D volume modeling, this is a new approach, as this type of modeling works without a model development tree. This sets the software apart from CAD systems, which follow a classic approach to modeling, in which a history of the parameters used is kept on the model in the design process.
