Crisanto España

Crisanto España (* 25. October 1964 in Ciudad Bolívar , Bolívar , Venezuela ) is a former Venezuelan boxer in the welterweight division .

His record in amateur boxing was 54-10. In 1984 España became a professional boxer and won his first 30 professional fights. At the end of October 1992 he became WBA world champion when he won the boxing match against reigning world champion Meldrick Taylor in the 8th round by technical knockout . He successfully defended his title twice before losing it to Ike Quartey in the 11th round in 1994 . After that España fought only once again in Ireland in 1995 and withdrew with a match record of 31-1-0 with 25 KO wins .

His older brother Ernesto España was from 1979 to 1980 lightweight world champion of the World Boxing Association.
