Cristiano Doni (born April 1, 1973 in Rome ) is an Italian football player .

Life

Doni played at FC Modena when he was young . In the 1991/92 season he came to the professional squad, but was not used. Therefore, he moved to Rimini Calcio , who played in the C2 series . After one season he moved to AC Pistoiese in the C series . Here, too, he knew how to convince and after only one season he left the club to go to the higher-class FC Bologna . In 1996 he went to league rivals Brescia Calcio , with whom he rose to Serie A in 1997 . After the direct relegation Doni moved to Atalanta Bergamo . Here he played until 2003, before the move to the second class was certain. Then he went to Sampdoria Genoa , who had made it to the House of Lords. In 2005 Doni moved abroad to RCD Mallorca , but returned to Italy after one season and was under contract with Atalanta Bergamo from 2006 onwards.

Doni was briefly Italian national player from 2001 . He made seven international appearances and scored one goal. He was part of the squad at the 2002 World Cup , but was only used twice after the tournament.

On August 9, 2011, Doni was banned for three and a half years in the wake of the manipulation scandal.
