Cristiano Spiller , known as Spiller , (born April 3, 1975 in Venice ) is an Italian DJ and music producer who also released under the name Laguna .

biography

As a teenager, Spiller was interested in electronic music . In 1998 he signed a record deal with Positiva Records . First an EP was released under the pseudonym Laguna. The singles Batucada and Positive (both 1998) followed under the name Spiller.

His international breakthrough came with the single Groovejet (If This Is not Love) , which in cooperation with the German DJ Boris Dlugosch and the hitherto unknown British singer Sophie Ellis-Bextor was born and samples from Carol Williams ' Love Is You contains . The song, the original instrumental version of which can be found on the 1999 Mighty Miami EP , became a European club hit and reached number 1 in Italy, Great Britain and Australia . The single sold over 2 million times.

In 2002 the follow-up single Cry Baby was released with samples from Otis Clay's Love Bandit from 1983 and Zapps Dance Floor from 1982, which only reached middle chart positions in England and Italy. In 2003 Spiller founded his own record label "Nano Records" and released the house track Sola . Despite more singles, there was no longer any commercial success.

Trivia

With a height of 2.15 m, Spiller is considered the "longest musician in the world".
