Cristina Sánchez de Pablos (born February 20, 1972 in Madrid ) is a former Spanish bullfighter .

Life

Sánchez made her debut in Madrid on February 13, 1993, a week before her 21st birthday. She completed 21 bullfighting events with young animals ( novilladas ). In 1996, she was in Nîmes to matadora de toros appointed and entered since then against full-blown fighting bulls. In 1998 she was officially recognized as the first woman in the most important arena in the world, the “Plaza de las Ventas” in Madrid, as a matadora. After 185 events ( corridas ) with adult bulls, she resigned in 1999.

In 2000 she married the Portuguese banderillero Alejandro da Silva, whose manager she became. The couple has two sons. She works as a commentator on bullfighting events for the television station Castilla la Mancha, where she also hosts her own television program Escuela de toreros .

On August 20, 2016, she appeared again as matadora for the first time after a 17-year break, on the occasion of a bullfighting event in Cuenca , the proceeds of which went to an organization for researching childhood cancer.
