The Cross Valley ( Swedish Dwarsdal , in Argentina Cañadón Díaz ) is a 3 km long valley with northwest-southeast orientation on the West Antarctic Seymour Island . The valley cuts through the central part of the island, which lies south of the northeast end of the Antarctic Peninsula .

Participants in the Swedish Antarctic Expedition (1901–1903) under the direction of Otto Nordenskjöld took the name, which takes into account the geographic location of the valley on Seymour Island. The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee transferred the Swedish name to English on November 21, 1949. The name given in Argentina is named after Manuel Díaz, 1903 mechanic on the corvette Uruguay to rescue the participants of Nordenskjöld's expedition who disappeared on Paulet Island .
