Crosse

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Crosse is in clinical usage, the confluence of the great saphenous vein (superficial vein largest of the legs) into the femoral vein (venous main outflow from the legs) and also the small saphenous vein (small hidden vein) into the popliteal vein .

In ancient France this was the name of the crosier. The confluence is curved like a bishop's crook, hence the name.

Main article: Crossectomy .

Crossectomy referred to the surgical procedure in which the Crosse and its incoming branches are removed.
