Cryptic Wintermoon is a German dark metal band from Münchberg . Her style is influenced by different genres such as black , death or thrash metal . The use of keyboards and spoken passages is particularly noticeable .
history
In 1993, Cryptic Wintermoon emerged from a band called Black Prophecies , whose members decided to change names because there were too many bands of the same name. Singer Seeberger and drummer Karakasevic left the band in 1994 and were replaced by Ronny Dörfler and Alexander Pöhlmann, who had previously played together in a band called Terrible Somnium . In 1995 their demo tape Voyage Dans La Lune released . After further changes in the line-up, the MCD Cryptic Wintermoon , the split single Franconian Frost and a promo tape, they got a contract with Ars Metalli and recorded the album The Age of Cataclysm , which received very good reviews in general. Due to financial disagreements, however, they canceled their contract with Ars Metalli, again recorded a promo tape and were signed by Massacre Records . In 2007 recordings were made for a new album, which is to become a concept album about the two world wars.
On the 2009 album Fear , the band covered the anti-war song 100 Men and a Command , originally sung by Freddy Quinn in 1966 .
