Cubitus valgus means an abnormal position of the elbow with increased radial deviation of the forearm to the upper arm . It can physiologically occur at an angle of up to 29 °, whereby it is more common and more pronounced in women than in men , and is usually associated with increased hyperextension.

More pronounced forms are usually the result of injuries such as fractures of the elbow, fracture of the radial head or supracondylar humeral fracture . As long as the skeletal growth is not complete, such post-traumatic cubitus valgus can intensify. An increase in pseudarthrosis after a transcondylar humerus fracture is also possible in adults .
