Cullen Murphy (born September 1, 1952 in New Rochelle , New York ) is an American comic book author.

Murphy was born the oldest of John Cullen Murphy's eight children . In 1974 he graduated summa cum laude from Amherst College, Massachusetts, in Medieval History. He began, also at the instigation of Hal Foster , to contribute individual stories to the Prince Iron Heart saga . When Foster retired completely in 1979, Cullen began to take a more serious look at the weekly sequels. At the same time, he made a career in the press world. He was Senior Editor of the Wilson Quarterly, wrote articles for magazines such as Harper's and has been the Managing Editor of Atlantic Monthly since 1985 , and since 2002 editor-in-chief.

He lives in Medfield / Massachusetts with his wife Anna-Marie and their three children Jack, Anna and Tim. He also deals with medieval history (certainly not to the detriment of comics) and lectures on it. He also researches and writes a lot about the English language.

He has been working on Prince Eisenherz with Gary Gianni since March 2004 when his father retired as a draftsman. Four months later, in July 2004, his father passed away. And in November 2004, Cullen Murphy stopped working on Prince Ironheart. His successor is now Mark Schultz with episode 3537 of November 21, 2004.
