Curt Bergsten , sometimes also Kurt Bergsten , (born June 24, 1912 , † July 21, 1987 ) was a Swedish football player . The midfielder took part in the 1938 World Cup with the Swedish national team.

Career

Bergsten played for Landskrona BoIS in the 1930s and 1940s . At the side of players like Harry Nilsson , Erik Persson and Knut Hansson , he ran in the Allsvenskan and occupied places in the midfield of the league with the team.

Bergstens good performances for his club led to national team nominations. In June 1935, the selection committee used him for the first time in the national team, when he contributed to the 3-1 victory over Denmark on the side of Ernst Andersson , Anders Rydberg and Nils Axelsson . In the autumn of that year he scored his only international goal in a 7-1 win over the Romanian national team . As a result, he wore the Swedish national jersey irregularly, but was in the squad for the selection for the World Cup finals in 1938. He followed the tournament events from outside the field, he was not granted a mission. His sixth and last international match was played shortly before the tournament in a 3-3 draw with Latvia .
