Curt Gielow

Curt Gielow (born March 18, 1954 in Evansville , Indiana ) is an American politician in the US state of Wisconsin . From 2002 to 2006 he was an MP in the Wisconsin State Assembly , and since 2010 he has been Mayor of the small town of Mequon .

Curt Gielow was born in Evansville, Indiana in 1954. In 1963 he received a Bachelor of Science degree from St. Louis College of Pharmacy , and in 1968 he received a Masters in Healthcare Administration from Washington University in St. Louis . He worked for many years in the healthcare sector and as a self-employed businessman. Gielow, who came to Mequon in the late 1980s, decided in 1996 to seek political office. In 1997 he was elected to Mequon City Council. He served as Alderman on the council until 2003 , including two years as its president.

In 2002 Gielow ran in the 23rd electoral district for the seat in the Wisconsin State Assembly, the lower house of the Wisconsin Parliament . He won the Republican nomination and was re-elected in 2004. As a member of parliament he was active in various committees, mainly concerned with the health sector. After two terms in office, Gielow decided in 2006 not to run again.

In 2010 he applied for Mayor in Mequon. He won the election and succeeded the long-time mayor Christine Nuernburg , who did not run after twelve years. In contrast to his predecessor, he wants to take a more business-friendly course.
