Curt Schlueter

Johannes Ernst Curt Schlueter (born September 22, 1881 in Halle (Saale) ; † May 1, 1944 there ) was a German scientist and entrepreneur.

Life

Curt Schlüter was born as the son of the natural historian, collector and entrepreneur Wilhelm Schlüter. After initially taking up the pharmacist's profession, he subsequently passed the Abitur in 1906 and studied natural sciences at the Universities of Halle and Leipzig, with a focus on zoology, botany, mineralogy and chemistry. In 1906 he became a member of the Corps Borussia in Halle . In 1921 he also received the ribbon of the Corps Friso-Luneburgia . In 1912 he was promoted to Dr. phil. PhD. In that year, instead of his brother Willi Schlueter, he became a partner in his father's company, Wilhelm Schlueter, Natural Science Institute in Halle, where he became its scientific director. The company was founded in 1924 by Dr. Schlueter and Dr. Maß renamed after her partner Otto Maß to Dr. phil. nat. hc was appointed. The company set up universities and educational establishments at home and abroad in the fields of anthropology, botany, chemistry, microscopy, mineralogy, zoology and photography.

In the First World War he took part as a battery leader and adjutant to the artillery commander. From 1918 to 1929 Curt Schlueter published the pest tables of the German Society for Applied Entomology. In 1927 he went on a six-month study trip to Ceylon and the Malay Archipelago .
