Cutting jade

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Cutting Jade is a South African rock band from Pretoria , founded in 1998 , whose titles have featured in the South African charts several times.

The music of Cutting Jade is in English and belongs to the field of rock music - whereby elements of independent rock are integrated. Cutting Jade's repertoire also includes rock ballads .

At the end of 2001 they had their biggest hit to date with the single Ten Seconds from their second album, which topped the charts in their home country. The album threw three other singles, which itself got two nominations for the 2003 South African Music Awards .

After the great national success, the step abroad followed. In 2002 they performed first in France, followed by a tour of Great Britain. At Popkomm 2005 they also appeared in Germany.

In 2004 it came to a turning point for the first time when first singer Duggan and then drummer Dannheimer left the band and had to be replaced. Then they played for three years with a new line-up, until in April 2007 the band was mixed up again. The follow-up singer Logan Grobbelaar also stopped, as did the bassist Botha. Some gigs were then completed with the former singer Andrew Duggan. After that, however, it became quiet about the remaining members, successors for the resigned musicians were not known, the announced date for a new album also passed without anything being known about the future of the band.

The band has been on tour again since April 2008 and recorded the album From Nothing .

Others

The name of the band (English = "cut jade") is derived from the term for the processing of the gemstone / mineral jade ( jadeite ).
