The Cuyuní ( Spanish río Cuyuní , English Cuyuni River ) is a river in northern Guyana and eastern Venezuela . The river acts as a demarcation line between the warring countries Venezuela and Guyana. There are always small skirmishes between units from both countries.

The river has a length of 618 km. It flows into the Mazaruni , which then unites with the Essequibo . The Guyanese part of the Anacoco Island in the Cuyuní River was annexed by Venezuela on October 12, 1966 .
