Cylith

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A cylith is a microscopic capsule of paint. A large number of these cyliths (in the four basic colors cyan , magenta , yellow and black ) are in the Cycolor process on a film-like carrier material in roll form. Only the Cyliths that will be printed later can release color on a substrate after an exposure process. The transfer takes place between rollers by pressure. The Cycolor process was used in full-color copiers (analog process) and can also be found occasionally in EDP printers. The disadvantage is that even for the smallest areas (e.g. a postage stamp-sized image on an A4 sheet) the full A4 area of the Cycolor film is always used.
