Life

After schooling at the Catholic St-Joseph de Cluny and at the Lycée Blaise Pascal in Nouméa, she studied foreign languages in France .

On her return, she entered the public service in the mayor's office of Nouméa, where she became head of the city cabinet under Mayor Jean Lèques in 2002. Through Lèques as a prominent representative of the rassemblement UMP, the anti-independence movement, she entered political life when she ran on the list of this party for the provincial elections of May 9, 2004. She was elected as a member of the Assembly of Representatives of the Southern Province and thus entered the Congress (Congrès de la Nouvelle-Calédonie). She prevailed again in the provincial elections on May 10, 2009 and became Vice President of the Southern Province in 2011. She held this office from November 9, 2011 to September 20, 2012. On September 20, 2012, she was elected President of the Southern Province, replacing Pierre Frogier .

In the government elections on May 11, 2014, she was elected President of the Government of New Caledonia. She took office on June 5, 2014, succeeding Harold Martin . She held the office until April 1, 2015, when she was replaced by Philippe Germain from the Calédonie ensemble (CE) party .

Politically, she is on the side of the anti-independence party, which does not want any separation from France and thus no independent New Caledonia state. The counter-movement is the Kanakian Socialist Front for National Liberation (FLNKS). A plebiscite was held about this in 2018 .
