Cyprus (DLR)
Cyprus is a Docklands Light Railway (DLR) station in the London Borough of Newham . It is located in Travel Zone 3 on Royal Albert Way in Beckton . On the south side, directly at the Royal Albert Dock , there is a campus of the University of East London .
The station was opened on March 28, 1994, along with the branch line towards Beckton . During the heyday of Docklands , the Eastern Counties and Thames Junction Railway ran here from 1880 to 1940 .
Like Beckton Park , the Cyprus station has an unusual design. In this section, the DLR route runs on the median of a multi-lane, direction-separated road. The station is within a large roundabout . Shortly before that, the road climbs slightly while the railway line slopes slightly. As a result, the station is in a cut under the elevated roundabout. Pedestrian access is on the level in between.
