Czernina

Czernina is a Polish soup whose main ingredient is duck blood (sometimes chicken blood). To give the soup a sweet and sour taste, vinegar and a little sugar are used. Otherwise there are many different recipes. Dried plums, pears, cherries or raisins are often added .

Czernina is served either with dumplings, homemade pasta or with potatoes. A traditional dish is the kaszëbskô czarwina in Polish czernina kaszubska , the Kashubian type of this soup.
