Czerwono-Czarni

Czerwono-Czarni ( The Red and Blacks ) was a Polish music group and one of the pioneers of beat music in Poland.

It was created in Gdańsk in 1960 on the initiative of Franciszek Walicki , the father of Polish rock music. The founding cast included Michaj Burano (vocals), Marek Tarnawski (drums), Zbigniew Garsen (piano), Andrzej Jordan (double bass), Zbigniew Podgajny (keyboards), Piotr Puławski (guitar), Seweryn Krajewski and Henryk Zomerski (both bass). There were also singers who became great domestic Polish stars: Helena Majdaniec , Wojciech Gąssowski , Józef Ledecki, Karin Stanek , Maciej Kossowski and Katarzyna Sobczyk (1945–2010). The band played at the Sopot Festival in 1962 and at the National Festival of Polish Song in Opole in 1963 . This was followed by a series of guest appearances abroad in Czechoslovakia, the GDR, the USA and Canada. For Polish standards, the highlight of her career was undoubtedly her performance as the opening act for the Rolling Stones in the Warsaw Palace of Culture in 1967 . In the course of its existence five LPs and numerous singles have been released. The most unusual was the beat fair Pan przyjacielem moim (The Lord is my friend) , published in 1968 . In 1976 the band broke up.

Czerwono-Czarni was a rock 'n' roll band from their origins that focused more and more on short hit songs over the course of the 1960s. Their song Apron Strings was the very first rock 'n' roll song by a Polish band.
