D²B

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

D²B ( Domestic Digital Bus , IEC 61030 ) is an IEC standard for a slow multi-master serial bus for home automation applications. It was originally developed by Matsushita and Philips in the 1970s. The D²B forms a topological ring structure with one master and several slave devices. The sequence of the slave devices is stored in the master device; if the master device is replaced by another, this generates an error as long as this sequence has not been saved in the new master device.

The successor to the D²B is the MOST bus with a larger data width and a higher transfer rate. This has almost completely replaced the D²B.

Applications

  • The 1998 version of the SCART standard offers a D²B connection for communication between video devices.
  • In various Mercedes-Benz vehicles, the audio and video equipment communication is based on the D²B.
