Danish millimeter tape

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The development of the Danish millimeter tape is attributed to the Danish bookbinder Henrik Park. The cover was developed in order to be able to produce a beautiful and attractive book cover with a leather back with as little leather as possible during wartime.

The Danish millimeter tape is a half tape and can be understood as a further development of the binding types bradel tape or binding with a broken spine . The Danish millimeter tape is based on the appearance of the Franz tape . This appearance is achieved by pressing the book block by 90 °. The book covers are only slightly removed (cover thickness + material thickness). The back is covered with thinly split leather overflowing to the lid. The book corners are reinforced with thin, hidden leather corners. The lids are then covered with colored paper after the leather .

The Danish millimeter tape is now considered a bibliophile type of binding, which is popular with book lovers and collectors.
