Dénes Varga

Dénes Andor Varga (born March 29, 1987 in Budapest ) is a Hungarian water polo player .

The 1.98 m tall backcourt player from Szolnoki Vizilabda SC was in the squad of the Hungarian national water polo team for the first time at the 2006 European Championships and finished second with his team behind the team from Serbia. A year later, the Hungarians finished second behind the Croatians at the 2007 World Cup .

At the 2008 Olympic Games , the Hungarians won the final against the team from the United States. The 21-year-old Dénes Varga was the youngest player in the Hungarian team at this tournament, in whose team several players won their third Olympic victory in a row.

In addition, Varga took part in the Olympic Games in London in 2012 and in Rio de Janeiro in 2016. At the 2014 European Water Polo Championships in Budapest, he was honored as the tournament's MVP. In 2013 in Barcelona he became world champion with Hungary. Varga is one of the best water polo players in the world and always convinces with his dreaded distance throws.

In the club he was active for Vasas Budapest, Primorije Rijeka and today for Szolnoki Vizilabda SC.
