Corcyre (German: Corfu) is a former French department in what is now Greece with the capital Corfu ( Corfou ).
The department was founded on the occasion of the annexation of the Ionian Islands by France in 1797. It ended in 1799 and finally in 1802.
The other departments of the Ionian Islands were Ithaque and Mer-Égée .
