Döbelt's Mill (2019)

Döbelts Mühle is a sawmill built in 1859 in the district of Tornau , Graefenhainichen ( Saxony-Anhalt ).

history

The mill has existed since 1859 and is located on the Hammerbach and a pond in Tornau. The mill house was built in 1879. The mill has not been in operation since 1996, when Alfred Döbelt, the last miller from Tornau, died. After his death, his grandson Hanjo Aleit moved to the property and restored the mill piece by piece without financial support in order to circumvent the associated requirements. Most of the technology has been preserved. The ground floor was made accessible again in 2015, followed by the floor and the basement. The mill wheel and sawmill are also to be restored. Since 2014 he has opened the mill annually to visitors on Whit Monday on the occasion of the German Milling Day .
