Dunas de Corrubedo

The Corrubedo Dunes Natural Park ( Galician : Dunar de Corrubedo e Lagoas de Carregal e Vixán ) is a 10 square kilometer natural park with sand dunes and lagoons. It is located on the Atlantic coast at the far end of the Barbanza peninsula in Galicia , Spain . The park is located in the province of A Coruña (La Coruña) and is one of the six natural parks designated by the Xunta de Galicia (Government of the Region of Galicia).

The nature park is an important habitat for native and migrating birds. It was designated in 1992 and has gained international recognition as an IUCN Category V protected area . The park was notified to the European Union as a Special Protection Area by the Spanish government.
