Düsseldorf mustard roast
The Düsseldorf mustard roast is a specialty from Düsseldorf that consists of a rump steak with a special mustard crust. This dish is one of the reasons for Düsseldorf's reputation as the “mustard city”.

The Düsseldorf mustard roast is made from rump steak , which is fried in a pan with a little fat, salted and peppered. Finely diced onions and mustard, in Düsseldorf mostly the lion mustard produced there , are mixed together and this mustard-onion paste is applied to one side of the meat and then briefly gratinated .
The roast set could be used as the basis for a sauce . Depending on the taste, mustard can also be served. In Düsseldorf, an Altbier is typically served with hearty meat dishes such as mustard roast .
