The düwi trade and production mbH was a manufacturer and supplier of electrical goods for the German and European do-it-yourself market. Since its inception, the company has specialized in the development and sale of electrical products for do-it-yourselfers. It had its headquarters in the old Hanseatic town of Breckerfeld in the western Sauerland; the production was based in Bad Berneck, Upper Franconia . düwi owned four subsidiaries in Poland , the Czech Republic and Hungary and is now part of the electronics manufacturer REV Ritter GmbH .

history

The company was founded in 1969 by Frank Düllmann in Hagen . As early as 1970, düwi won one of the first German hardware store chains, Obi , as a trading partner, making it the first company to offer electrical accessories, switches and sockets via German hardware stores. düwi was a subsidiary of the Reitz Group and was one of the market leaders for self-service electrical products in Germany.

Due to the bankruptcy of the parent company, düwi also had to file for bankruptcy in February 2009. On May 4, 2009, it was reported to the bankruptcy court that there is likely to be insufficient mass .

The existing and remaining long-term employees were promised to be taken on, but this was not kept.

On November 1, 2009, the company REV Ritter GmbH, based in Mömbris near Aschaffenburg, bought the business operations of düwi GmbH. düwi was merged into REV Ritter GmbH and no longer exists as an independent company. The name düwi will be continued as a new brand under the umbrella of REV Ritter.

The warehouse and logistics of REV Ritter GmbH were located at the Breckerfeld location until the end of October 2013. After the company moved out, the building became the property of the insolvency administrator.
