DAV (magazine)

DAV (German: "Crowd") was a Czechoslovakian magazine that appeared with interruptions from 1924 to 1937 and 1938, first in Prague and later in Bratislava . The name is also an acronym from the first names of the editors D aniel Okáli, A ndrej Sirácky and V lado Clementis . The Marxist literary critic Eduard Urx (1903–1942) was also involved in the establishment. Around the magazine formed as a Davisten (Slovak: davisti , Czech: davisté ) designated group of Socialist oriented, the CPC-S related politicians and cultural sector to the u. A. Peter Jilemnický , Ján Robert Poničan and Ladislav Novomeský belonged.

Because of their differences with the dogmatic Communist Party functionaries of the Prague Communist Party, some of the DAV activists were sentenced to long prison terms in 1954 in the so-called trial with bourgeois nationalists .
