DAXglobal Asia Index

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The DAXglobal Asia Index is a share index issued by Deutsche Börse , which is calculated from the weighted prices of shares in 40 large companies in the region. The difference compared to corresponding products from other providers lies in the country weighting, which is not based on the respective market capitalization , but on the economic strength of the individual countries.

Composition 2008

In 2008, the index contained stocks from 10 countries, with the already highly industrialized and prosperous South Korea with eight companies, including world-famous brands such as Samsung , Hyundai and Hynix , as strongly represented as China . India followed directly behind with seven representatives, who together accounted for over 20 percent of the index capitalization. The selection was supplemented by companies from Singapore , Hong Kong , Taiwan , Thailand , Indonesia , the Philippines and Malaysia . In terms of industry composition, the focus was clearly on the financial sector, from which over a quarter of the companies considered came from.

2020

Members include Unilever Indonesia and HDFC Bank. The index collapsed extremely in 2020 due to the coronavirus.
