Under the series designation Kdl 01 the acquired German Federal Railroad in the 1950s, some K leinst d iesel l okomotiven as Shunting which for the shunting of locomotives and wagons in operation and maintenance workshops were designed. Due to their short design, they found space on turntables and transfer platforms together with long locomotives .

procurement

After a first prototype called Kdl 15 from 1953, the first two series vehicles were built by Schöma in 1956 and 1957 . A series of ten vehicles followed in 1958. After that, production and procurement were discontinued.

designation

The prototype from 1953 was initially called Kdl 15, which was subsequently also the model name of the manufacturer Schöma. The following 12 shunting tractors were then designated as Kdl 01-01 to Kdl 01-12. On January 1, 1968, the name was changed to Kdl 91-01 to Kdl 91-12. The first Kdl 15 built (year of construction 1953, factory number 1429) was redrawn as Kdl 91-01. The second built Kdl 01-01 (year of construction 1956, factory number 1763), on the other hand, was withdrawn early and no longer redrawn with the 91 designation. In the 1970s, the remaining machines were renamed to the auxiliary vehicle numbers 91 0001 to 91 0012 (without the preceding Kdl, partly with a hyphen, partly also written without a space).

Kdl at private railways

In 1955 and 1956 Schöma also supplied three Kdl shunting tractors to Werkbahnen.

Whereabouts

A total of five of the DB-Kdl are still preserved today, including the green painted 91 0006 of the DB Museum , which was refurbished in the AW Bremen in the 1980s. Today it is loaned to the IG Nebenbahn Nordhessen. The remaining eight have since been scrapped.
