DBC Pierre is the pseudonym of the Australian writer Peter Warren Finlay (* 1961 in South Australia , Australia ).

The adoption of this pseudonym is intended to express the seriousness with which Finlay wants to carry out his new duties as a writer. DBC Pierre stands for Dirty But Clean Peter , which should stand for the change in his life, because during his life Finlay succeeded in being 'shot by his neighbor in Mexico City, amassing a debt of 100,000 dollars, and being addicted to drugs and gambling and deceive a number of women '(blurb to "Jesus of Texas").

For his first work Jesus von Texas (original title: Vernon God Little ) Finlay received the Booker Prize in 2003 . His second novel, Ludmila's Broken English , was published in March 2006 and has the German title Bunny and Blair . On September 2, 2010, the third novel by DBC Pierre Lights out was published in Wonderland . This book was published in 2011 under the title Das Buch Gabriel in German language. The paperback edition of 2013 returned to the original title Licht aus im Wunderland .
