The DIN standard DIN 4023 Geotechnical exploration and investigation - Graphic representation of the results of boreholes and other direct outcrops is a standard that deals with the graphic representation of the results of geological boreholes and other direct outcrops that is valid for Germany .
The standard defines the identification and representation of soil types, rock types and soil groups as well as their representation in the drilling profile . It gives examples of short forms, hatching and color coding for soil and rock types and establishes a direct reference to EN ISO 14688 (formerly DIN 4022 ).
